About us

The Swedish National Maritime, Transport and Military Museums (SMMTF) is a government agency responsible for preserving and developing cultural heritage, as well as promoting and advancing knowledge within its fields. Its activities are intended to be relevant and accessible to everyone in society.

SMMTF manages and develops seven museums in four locations – the Air Force Museum in Linköping, the Naval Museum in Karlskrona, the Swedish  Railway Museum in Gävle, and the Army Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Vasa Museum and Vrak – Museum of Wrecks in Stockholm. In addition, the Civil Aviation Collections and the Road and Traffic History Collections in Kjula form part of SMMTF.

The agency also includes the Board of Military Traditions, an expert group that provides advice on Swedish military traditions. 

SMMTF is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001.
