The National Museums of Maritime, Transport and Military History (SMMTF) is a government agency responsible for preserving and developing cultural heritage, as well as promoting and advancing knowledge within its fields. Its activities are intended to be relevant and accessible to everyone in society.
SMMTF operates and develops seven museums in four locations – the Army Museum in Stockholm, the Air Force Museum in Linköping, the Railway Museum in Gävle, the Naval Museum in Karlskrona, and the Maritime Museum, the Vasa Museum and Vrak – Museum of Wrecks in Stockholm. In addition, the civil aviation collections and the road and traffic history collections in Kjula form part of SMMTF.
The agency also includes the Defence Traditions Board, an expert group that provides advice on the traditions of the Swedish Armed Forces.
SMMTF is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001.
